Held is built around care — for your focus, your rest, and your data. We collect only what we need, we never sell your information, and we're always transparent about how your data is used.

Who we are

Held ("we", "us", "our") is a calm daily companion app for adults with ADHD. We are operated by The Held App. You can contact us at theheldapp@gmail.com.

What data we collect

We collect only what's necessary to provide the Held experience:

Account information: Your email address when you join our waitlist or create an account.
Usage data: Information about how you use the app, such as which features you use and when, to help us improve Held.
Journal and check-in data: Notes, mood check-ins, and session logs you create within the app. This data is stored locally on your device.
Wearable data: If you choose to connect your Oura Ring or other wearable device, we access biometric data (readiness score, sleep score, HRV) solely to provide personalised guidance within the app. We do not store this data on our servers.

To translate your wearable data into warm, personalised daily guidance
To understand how Held is used so we can make it better

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties. Ever.

Wearable device data

When you connect your Oura Ring (or other supported wearable), you authorise Held to read specific health metrics via the device's official API. This connection is consent-based — you can disconnect at any time from within the app or from your wearable account settings. Wearable data is processed in real-time to generate your daily insights and is not stored on Held's servers.

Data storage

Your journal entries, mood check-ins, and session history are stored locally on your device using your browser's local storage. This means your personal reflections never leave your device. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, this data will not carry over until we introduce cloud sync (which will be opt-in).

Cookies

We use minimal cookies necessary to operate the app (such as keeping you logged in). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Third-party services

Held uses the following third-party services:

Vercel: Website and app hosting
Oura Health: Wearable data integration (only when you connect your ring)

Your rights

You have the right to:

Access the data we hold about you
Request deletion of your data
Disconnect your wearable device at any time
Opt out of any communications from us

Children's privacy

Held is designed for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes by email or through the app. The date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent update.
